MAJOR FUNCTION:
To provide material control support to accomplish the most effective and efficient manufacturing of product in meeting the requirements of our customers and to meet the objectives of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Initiates material purchases to pre-approved vendors by determining the requirements necessary to support the production schedule.
2. Maintains accurate raw material inventories and records in order to avoid shortages and delays to the production schedule. Reconciles and does extensions on in-process inventory.
3. Controls and initiates purchases of miscellaneous operating and office supplies as necessary.
4. Initiates follow-up and expediting of purchased raw material and supplies as necessary.
5. Maintains all files and records including data entry to the computer system, as may be required, in carrying out the responsibilities of the position.
6. Directs and controls the receiving dock and warehouse areas, including those wage employees assigned to those areas.
7. Ensures effective communications with Manufacturing, Corporate Material Control, Sales, Customer Service, Finance and Suppliers on an ongoing basis to maintain a smooth flow of information to support the objectives of the location.
8. Assists in other projects or assignments as required by the Plant Manager.
9. Performs other tasks as required.
EDUCATION:
1. Associates degree.
PREREQUISITES FOR THE JOB:
1. 2-3 years background in material control.
