SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production of high-quality products. This role supports new product introduction, process design, tooling development, and sustaining engineering, combining technical expertise with hands-on problem solving to drive operational excellence in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Lead manufacturing readiness for new products from concept through production launch, functioning as a subject matter expert for the assigned products.

  2. Collaborate with customers, sales, and cost estimating to ensure products are manufacturable and cost-effective.

  3. Design radio frequency weld tooling, cutting dies, and assembly fixtures, and coordinate tooling builds with internal and external sources.

  4. Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures.

  5. Set up Bills of Materials (BOMs) and process routings in ERP system.

  6. Develop and execute process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) with quality and production.

  7. Identify and implement process improvements using established methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.

  8. Support effective engineering change management through the engineering change control process.

  9. Support facility layout and manufacturing flow improvements as the business evolves.

  10. Take initiative to explore alternative technologies and make recommendations with supporting documentation and business case for improving engineering efficiencies.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline such as mechanical, biomedical, or industrial is strongly preferred. Will consider degrees from other disciplines or equivalent work experience in lieu of education, in addition to base experience requirements

  2. Five years of experience in medical device manufacturing or another regulated industry. Machine shop experience and RF welding experience are strongly preferred.


DESIRED SKILLS FOR THE JOB:

  1. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at various levels within the organization.

  2. Ability to lead hands-on is critical.

  3. Competency with CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD and Inventor are a plus).

  4. ERP and MRP software experience.

  5. Working knowledge of medical device requirements including ISO 13485.

  6. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
