SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for administering and controlling manufacturing processes to develop methods and processes at the most cost-effective level while meeting the quality, demand and long-term objectives of the company. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design and maintain facility lay-out, plant development and organize traffic flow

  • Responsible for program development, timelines and communication of details

  • Develop methods and processes at the most cost-effective level

  • Responsible for upkeep of plant capacity plan and communication of capacity with customers

  • Responsible for new program design and quotation along with corporate team

  • Lead new program introduction and associated new equipment development

  • Support continuous improvement objectives along with Kaizen and Poka Yoke methodologies

  • Practice Creative Foam’s values in a positive manner at all times

  • Work overtime as required based on business needs and/or operational requirements

  • Perform all other tasks as requested and required


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in engineering with education and/or experience emphasis on manufacturing.  Seven years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience with an emphasis on new product introduction and project management is preferred.


QUALIFICATIONS: Auto CAD, Autodesk Inventor/other forms of design software, and thorough understanding and experience with Microsoft Office products are required.   

Teamwork, timeliness and respectful behavior towards co-workers, management and others is mandatory.  Ability to learn company used computer software utilized in manufacturing, inventory and accounting is essential.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: The ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports and technical drawings is required.  Write business reports, correspondence, policies and procedures in a professional manner.  Must effectively present information to groups of managers, directors, customers and suppliers.  Verbally respond calmly and respectfully to questions, inquiries or complaints. 


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Proficiency with basic math, especially decimals and fractions is mandatory, as well as basic geometry and an understanding of the Cartesian coordinate system (X,Y, Z) to effectively use CAD software is required.  The ability to work with fundamental business math including proportions and percentages along with an ability to provide reports is mandatory.


REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. The ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables is necessary.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ability to use a personal computer to produce reports and spreadsheets using Windows-based software is mandatory. Must be able to perform duties at or above average skill level, while practicing Creative Foam’s values in a positive manner, at all times.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move between standing, sitting and walking. The ability to talk and hear clearly, often using a telephone headset or earbuds is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus to effectively read and interpret information on paper and computer screens.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: The standard work environment is an office or cubicle style workstation. Occasionally it is required to perform work in a foam product manufacturing and packaging environment requiring exposure to machinery, mechanical parts, loud noise, fluctuating temperatures and dust which is naturally present in areas of the facility.
