MAJOR FUNCTION:
Responsible for critical plant support include maintaining all existing equipment controls and robotic programming along with the specifications for new equipment, controls, and installation support of all new equipment. Job will at times include directing the purchase and installation of new equipment or the modification of existing equipment to meet the needs of new programs or improvement projects. Drive process improvement in Plant operations and preventive maintenance. Coordinate business case information for new investments and provide general assistance to the Plant teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide critical plant support of equipment and control systems (PLC, HMI, VFDs, etc.) for lines and their robotics.
2. Troubleshooting of controls related issues on machinery and equipment with proper root cause analysis
3. Ensure maintenance and upkeep of electrical schematics, software and equipment manuals
4. Drive project execution internal and with vendors to achieve milestones.
5. Identify key production capabilities and new technologies for future Product Development and Investment.
6. Work with process engineers, manufacturing, and use process analysis to identify improvements for processes and procedures and assist in their implementation. Procurement of materials, equipment, and tooling as required.
7. Support plant projects and facilitate all internal and external communications.
8. Complete necessary PM activities for maintaining and tracking of current PLC and robotics programs
9. Document and recommend changes to rates, machine set-ups, programing and training when improvements are possible. Ensure record keeping accuracy and additional historical records of changes made to any existing equipment.
10. Work with Program and Project Engineers, Design/Tooling Engineers and Plants to assure validation of process, equipment and production capabilities.
11. Maintain manuals for equipment built in-house or supplements for purchased equipment.
12. Maintain a good understanding of all corporate procedures and processes to assure a timely completion and flow of programs through the development process.
13. Align with organizational development standards and processes.
14. Perform other tasks as required.
EDUCATION:
1. Bachelor's degree in electrical, controls, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
PREREQUISITES FOR THE JOB:
1. Bachelor's degree in electrical, controls, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of three (3) years control engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. Good working knowledge of PLC, HMI’s, vision systems, relays, contactors, servos, steppers, low voltage circuits, high voltage circuits, database storage, etc.
4. Comprehensive computer skills (Windows & Microsoft Office)
5. Print reading. – Electrical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic.
6. Basic foam and tooling knowledge.
7. Automotive industry experiences preferable with tier one supplier.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
1. Ability to effectively program the following types of software: Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, Keyence vision systems, Fanuc robots, Yaskawa robots, Nachi robots.
2. Experience with Plex ERP

This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager
